With the instantly downloadable and printable pattern together with the detailed instructions below, this bunny headband is absolutely easy and quick to sew. Besides, it can be hand-sew too if a sewing machine isn’t within your reach, so no more excuse for not sewing one for your loved one to celebrate the Easter.

How To Sew Bunny Headband

continue to read and get the pattern & tutorial below ⬇️

The Bunny Headband sewing pattern comes in 2 sizes, for the kids, and for adults. Sew by using pile fabric plush, minky, towel, fleece, chenille, microfiber, etc for extra softness and fluffiness.

Add a nice print of cotton on the bunny ears will definitely cheer up your boring days.

The bunny headband doesn’t take up too much material to sew, just a size of a body towel could sew up a few of this bunny headband.

We had a wonderful bunny party in the garden during the weekend, playing bubbles together with Hanna and her family. Dressing up with the bunny headband and the kids have had so much fun blowing bubbles and chasing them. The bunny ears on the headband were bouncing it is a bunny hopping here and there.

Look at how cute Hanna is in chasing the bubbles, and the flip-flopping bunny ears. She is going to steal many boy’s hearts and she just stole mine.

You will never regret the time spent blowing bubbles!

More Details on how to trace, cut and sew the Bunny Headband

Click here to download then print out the bunny headband for KID SIZE separately. Do not scale the printing, if you are not sure if the printing is in full size, you may check it with a ruler by measuring the 2″ length shown in the pattern.

Click here to download then print out the bunny headband for ADULT SIZE separately. Do not scale the printing, if you are not sure if the printing is in full size, you may check it with a ruler by measuring the 2″ length shown in the pattern.

Print out the pattern on cardstock and cut out the template.

Prewash the fabrics so you know for sure that the shrinking is done before you sew the bunny headband.

I use thicker and denser batting (meant for sewing purses) so that the bunny ears can stand up nicely.

You may use an elastic cord from the hair accessories section if you can't find the narrow width flat elastic band.

Headband

Fold the pile fabric with the right-side facing each other, align the template with the widest width (marked as centreline in the template) at the folded line.

Trace the outline with a water-erasable fabric marker, pin both layers inside the outline.

Cutout the headband piece.

Mark the sewing lines by drawing a line 1.5″ from the edge, as shown in the picture above.

Sew to stitch the headband ends together, with 0.25″ seam allowance. Press the seam allowance flat and open.

Double fold the raw edge and align the first fold edge to the sewing line. Then, edge stitch close to the first fold leaving a 1″ opening or wide enough to feed elastic through, as shown in the picture above.

Repeat the same to the other raw edge of the headband. Set aside.

Bunny Ears

Trace the bunny ear template on the batting, with a ball pen or fabric marker.

Stack the fabrics with the pile fabric at the bottom (with right-side facing upward), then the cotton fabric (with right-side facing down), lastly the batting with tracing line facing up.

Pin all layers.

Sew 0.25″ from the tracing line, do not sew the bottom line of the ear.

Cut along the tracing lines.

Turn the bunny ear right-side out.

Fold the bottom edge into the ear and close the opening by stitching it up. You may hand-stitch with slip stitches to close the opening if the pile is too thick to go through your sewing machine.

Repeat the same to the other ear.

Mark the bunny ear position at the headband.

The bunny ears are 4″ apart for an adult size.

Fold and stitch the bottom of the ear together followed by stitching it onto the headband by using slip stitches, around the ear base.

Repeat the stitching to the other ear.

Bring the ears together, make a small stitch to join both ears together.

With the ears holding together, they will stand up better when you wear the headband.

Feed the elastic band through the casing at each side respectively. Tie or sew the ends.

Sew to close the openings

This is the adult size of the bunny headband.

Test it on your head, if the ears appeared to flop to the front, make a few stitches at the back of the ear to bring it a little behind so that it won't lean to the front.

Kid Size

The method of sewing the kid-size bunny head is similar to the adult size. However, since the headband is a little narrower than the adult size, it is sewn slightly differently.

After cutting out the headband piece, mark the sewing lines as shown in the picture above.

Double fold the raw edges but instead to sew the full length the adult size, stop the sewing at the intersection point.

Then stitch the raw edges at the narrower part together, as shown in the picture below.

Remember to leave an opening for elastic band feeding.

Feed 2 elastic bands into the casings respectively and tie a knot to join up each of the elastic bands.

Sew to close the opening.

This is how the kid-size bunny headband looks after completed.

Cute Lace Bunny Ears Headband Craft (Video Tutorial)

Cute Lace Bunny Ears Headband Craft (Video Tutorial)

Easter isn’t complete without a cute bunny ears headband! This lace headband is just a super fun and easy option for adding something cute to your outfit around Easter. While it’s made more for the little ones to wear, you can definitely add it to your own Easter ensemble if you prefer. I’d definitely wear it while hiding eggs for the kids this year!

Lace Bunny Ears Headband

For as long as I remember, I have had pretty long hair, and part of having long hair is keeping it your face. Right away, I can tell you that headbands have been one of my favorite ways to do that. In fact, you are more ly to find a headband in my purse than a hair tie. They just end up working better and well, I the way they look.

For Easter this year, I wanted to make something cute to add to my granddaughters Easter care package. She has beautiful long curly hair, and loves wearing headbands, so, this idea was born.

A few simple clips of scissors and addition of glue, and voila, an adorable headband just in time for Easter was created. Adding a few flowers and a bow just made it that much cuter. I love that it was such an easy craft to make and that it will make her smile when she opens her package!

This can also be used as a fun addition to your kid’s homemade Easter baskets this year. I love the idea of tucking it in with some other fun hair accessories as a part of a non candy Easter treat!

Can I Add This to Barrettes Instead?

A few adjustments can make this work on barrettes instead of a headband. The ears themselves can easily be added to barrettes individually.

The only thing you would need to change is instead of adding the larger flower to the center, you would only add a few smaller ones on each barrette.

If you choose to make a barrette, I highly recommend the basic clasp barrette for this so it goes on and off your hair with no struggle.

To secure a barrette, you will follow the same methods, only make things slightly smaller if needed to keep the look similar. Some of these short hair hacks work well to go along with this barrette.

What Type of Headband Works Best?

For this Easter headband, you can use any hard headband. The only kinds that won’t work are the soft cloth style or the ones that also double as a hair tie. This thinner headband is widely available in bulk at Dollar Tree and other stores, so easily affordable.

If you prefer a thicker plastic headband, it would probably work even better. The thicker width would give you more room to secure the lace ears and the flowers. I know that the wider headbands work better on me now as an adult, but were a bit too bulky when I was a child. So, keep that in mind when making your choice.

For little girls, you might prefer to adjust this no sew hair bow to make it look more ears. This would clip into a toddler’s hair much easier, and be less ly to shift around or fall their hair while out hunting eggs.

I also recommend making this with a pretty inexpensive headband. There is no need to buy something pricey as it will only be worn a few times each year if that often.

How to Make a Lace Bunny Ears Headband

First, you will fold your pipe cleaner into a loop an ear and twits together at the bottom.

Now, you will cut out tulle the same size as the ear, and glue in place.

Next, you will add a strip of lace to the middle of the ear and glue in place.

Now, you will glue the ears onto either side of the headband.

Now, you can decorate the headband with flowers. I used one larger flower in the middle, then 2 smaller flowers on each side in different colors.

Once you have your flowers arranged and glued in place, you can add a small ribbon bow to one ear, or other embellishments beads, pearls, or rhinestones if desired.

Now it’s time to wear your cute little Easter themed headband!

There are so many amazing crafts for Easter that you can make and display around your home, but this fun idea is one you can wear everywhere! If you also want to add an extra element of beauty to your Easter ensemble, you need to check out this easy way to curl your hair with paper towels. It gives you tons of extra body in your hair that will look beautiful on Easter morning.

I also love this headband with this beautiful fishtail ponytail style. So easy to make and gorgeous for Easter. Add this finger knit necklace to the style, and you have a gorgeous look to go with your Easter dress!

Amazon Easter Crafts:

This headband will look even better with some glitter! I to grab rainbow glitter online from Today Glitter to use in crafting. It’s so much easier and better to get just what I want there and I know it’s quality and comes in different sizes.

Along with that, I highly recommend buying your headbands from Dollar Tree. The price can’t be beat, and when you are using them for a project this, the cheaper option is more than enough as it doesn’t have to last for years.

Active Time 10 minutes

Total Time 10 minutes

Difficulty Easy

Estimated Cost $2

If you have a shorter hair style that doesn’t work well with the headband, you can add the individual ears and flowers to a barrette instead.
